Your best is waiting to be discovered.----Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)This is a Stanford Health Care job.A Brief OverviewUnder the direction of the Patient Care Manager in Endoscopy, the Endoscopy Technician II provides assistance to the physicians during endoscopic procedures. Provide training to new staff, assist with maintaining ongoing peer competencies and performs special projects as assigned by the Patient Care Manager. Assist in pre and post procedure care of endoscopy patients as directed, recognizing and addressing age-appropriate needs. Assist in functions to help the unit run smoothly, such as supplies, equipment and room maintenance. Perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks according to departmental policies to assist physicians and/or nurse anesthetists in performing anesthetic procedures; calibrates, monitors, troubleshoots, and cleans various anesthesia equipment; provides technical skills in the preparation of all anesthesia equipment used during surgical and related medical procedures; and performs housekeeping, stocking, patient care and other duties as assigned.LocationsStanford Health CareWhat you will do
    • Accurately performs procedures specific to endoscopy, handles specialized equipment and provides assistance to the physicians during endoscopic procedures.
    • Assists in equipment maintenance and assures adequate equipment and supplies for day to day operations.
    • Assists in performing pre, intra and post procedure care of endoscopy patients, recognizing and addressing age appropriate needs.
    • Assists in setting up equipment and rooms for specialized procedure.
    • Conducts all communication in an effective, accurate, courteous manner. Is calm and co-operative.
    • Consistently demonstrates required competencies.
    • Demonstrates appropriate endoscope care technique including but not limited to set up, bedside cleaning and turning around procedure room.
    • Develops positive working relationships with all members of the health care team.
    • Mentors, trains, or develops peers or team members to improve Endoscopy and anesthesia tech competencies.
    • Prepares specimen for pathology and assures completion of appropriate paperwork.
    • Pro-actively influences, trains or mentors others to contribute to Patient Safety practices. Recognized by others for leading or championing Patient Safety issues.
    • Provides training to new staff, assists in maintaining ongoing peer competencies and performs special projects as assigned by the Patient Care manager.
    • Actively participates in quality control, quality assurance and preventative maintenance activities.
    • Assists in preparing procedure rooms for a variety of anesthetic procedures.
    • Assists in the correct and safe positioning of the patient for the operating procedure to be performed.
    • Attends and participates in equipment and supply in-services, evaluations and staff meetings.
    • Cleans anesthetic machine and other equipment after completion of anesthesia.
    • Cleans rooms and changes linens.
    • Completes all designated assignments in an accurate and efficient manner. Prioritizes work using available resources.
    • Demonstrates ability to provide appropriate care based on the needs of the individual taking into consideration age, culture, and developmental issues.
    • Has a current working knowledge of location, operation and maintenance of common equipment and supplies located in the procedure rooms.
    • Identifies and shares recommendations for containing costs in assigned area.
    • Maintains inventory records and orders, stores, and distributes anesthesia supplies, drugs and equipment.
    • Participates in the monitoring and documenting of quality improvement issues.
    • Performs patient care functions according to hospital and region policies and procedures. Examples of tasks include: shave preps, non-invasive monitoring, specimen collection, ambulating and repositioning patients.
    • Practices aseptic techniques according to established standards of care and infection control policies.
    • Proactively uses the problem solving process to identify, prevent or resolve inter- or intra-departmental problems.
    • Set up anesthesia instruments and equipment for assigned procedure rooms.
    • Responds to, documents and distributes items as requested in a timely manner.
    • Sets up anesthetic machine, endotracheal intubation, monitoring equipment, and other supplies peculiar to type of anesthesia.
    • Supports administrative decisions and assures implementation and compliance with all department, institutional and regulatory policies and procedures.
    • Transports/receives patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens within the region and hospital according to policies and procedure.Education Qualifications
      • High School Diploma or GED equivalentExperience Qualifications
        • Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experienceRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
