If you are a current USF employee or affiliate please login to your Workday account and apply internally.Assistant Director, Development CommunicationsJob Title: Assistant Director, Development CommunicationsJob Summary: The Office of Development Communications delivers targeted messages and content to key audiences via university-owned channels in support of philanthropic and engagement goals that aim to improve the health and longevity of USF. Development Communications is a key component of the Development Division at the University of San Francisco.The Assistant Director of Development Communications works in the Office of Development Communications to develop and implement the Development Division's communications and marketing strategies, creating communications that educate, engage, cultivate, and inspire philanthropic support and engagement with USF.Essential Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Associate Director, support planning and implementation of web content on behalf of Development-owned web pages. Serve as liaison between central university Web Services and Development. Monitor all Development-owned websites for content accuracy and consistency and serve as primary web manager for /giving, /campaign, /alumni /parents, and any other Development-managed USF pages. Become certified in USF content management systems.
  • Monitor web and email metrics and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of communications to improve engagement. Regularly track and report out on key metrics. Support other analytics-related projects.
  • Serve as the marketing and communications liaison for the Office of Special Events; Work with other clients across the Development division to create robust and detailed segmented marketing and communications plans to support philanthropic and engagement goals as assigned.
  • Write both short form content and longer stories. Contribute regularly to newsletters and web content, researching and writing news stories about philanthropy and alumni engagement. Support organic social media content creation and management.
  • Creative oversight and/or creation of visual assets in Canva or Marq as requested to support social media needs, special event requests, Alumni Engagement needs, and other requests as needed. Previous experience in design software like Indesign, Canva, etc. preferred.
  • Build emails and pull lists for marketing and communications projects as assigned; Support newsletter creation and execution.
  • Assist in strategic planning of the Development Communications editorial calendar, based on web analytics data and newsletter open rates, to make the case for content that is engaging and relevant; work with colleagues in Development Communications to plan content that is in support of the goals and strategies of internal clients.
  • Edit and fact-check external content (stories, web content, emails, social media posts, etc.) for accuracy, functionality, clarity, consistency, brand consistency, and impact, as needed. Review and approve content and messaging created by colleagues.
  • Represent Development Communications in division-wide data working groups, such as Salesforce Affinaquest, and serve as a Salesforce AQ subject matter expert.
  • Attend regular division-wide meetings and Development Communications meetings.
  • Manage and assign projects to one or more student interns as needed.Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in digital media, marketing, communications, journalism, English, public relations, or related field.
  • Two or more years of professional experience in content creation and digital content management, with the ability to think from a user's perspective when organizing, creating, and maintaining content.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and execute best practices in content management and digital communications, including the integration of multiple channels to reach target audiences with desired messages and outcomes.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience in both long and short-form writing as well as interviewing. Must be a creative thinker and storyteller with the ability to use words and visuals to motivate and excite audiences.
  • Project management expertise; ability to manage multiple projects for various purposes on schedule with attention to consistency of overall messaging and design. Must be able to see the big picture while also delivering on the details.
  • Demonstrated experience in tracking and reporting on key metrics and analytics results. Responsive to data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborative relationship-builder and problem-solver who enjoys working on teams and with subject matter experts.
  • Passion for working in a diverse, multi-cultural environment and for the mission of USF.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and implement new ideas.
  • Understanding of content management systems, and demonstrated ability in digital content and user experience management best practices.
  • Proficient in Google Suite.Additional skills, knowledge, and abilities desired but not required for position:
  • Experience working in higher education development or philanthropy.
  • Knowledge of design software, such as Photoshop, InDesign, Marq, Canva.
  • Knowledge of project management systems, such as Asana and Slack.
  • Experience with database navigation, such as Salesforce.Full-Time/Part-Time: Full timePay Rate: SalarySalary Range : $68,000/yr to $78,000/yr.
